Architect - Commercial, Institutional and Industrial Buildings

As Senior Architect and an integral member of the team, you will:

 

1.0  Leadership, Management and Business Relationships

 

--  Develop, maintain and promote strong working relationships with clients, building owners, engineers, sub-trades and respresentatives of the business and construction community.

 

--  Consult with clients to determine their unique building renovation or new construction needs.  Communicate clearly, make presentations to clients, outline concepts, estimate costs, prepare contract documents and specifications, discuss options and offer creative solutions.

 

--  Represent the client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts.  Prepare correspondence and reports; document, develop charts and tables to analyze and monitor the project. 

 

--  Oversee project activities; coach and mentor staff; contribute to a positive and productive team envionment.  Support the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote key messages and achieve a competitive advantage. 

 

2.0  Planning and Design

 

--  Conduct feasibility studies and financial analyses of building projects.  Plan and design buildings, conceptualize, plan and develop designs for the construction and renovation of commercial, institutional and light industrial buildings.

 

--  Prepare or supervise the preparation of drawings, specifications and other construction documents.  Prepare sketches, scale models or animated videos for presentation to the public or clients.  Follow building codes, zoning laws, fire regulations and other ordinances.  Monitor design modifications and changes to ensure budget adherence.

 

-- Prepare bidding documents, participate in contract negotiations and award construction contracts.

 

3.0  Construction and Site Supervision

 

--  Monitor activities on construction sites to ensure compliance with specifications, budget and project schedule.  Manage contract administration, oversee drawings and specifications, resolve problems that arise on the job site and monitor work in progress.

Requirements
EducationBachelor's degree in Architecture, or completion of the syllabus of studies from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada  (RAIC).

Experience

-- 5+ years licensed architectural experience, with eligibility to be licensed in Saskatchewan.

--  Experience and knowledge of building technology, contract administration, applicable codes, construction detailing and working drawing production.

--  Business management and employee leadership experience is a definite asset.


ComputerDemonstrated proficiency of AutoCAD, Word, Excel and computer graphic/modelling skills.
